Now onto to the ordering system. As I just already mentioned, you are not served at a table rather you order the food on entering the building from a converted caravan. The ordering process is quite straightforward. Once you have ordered you receive a token with a number on. When your number flashes up on the screen you simply go to collect your order from the bar. There is no waiter service here, so if you are expecting the normal table service you may be in for a shock but that was not a problem for me.
Going to a new place for the first time always inspires me to try a few things. At Three Buns the main feature is burgers, so I tested out 2 of their offerings to see how they fared. I chose the Baby Huey priced at 95k which is the cheapest and most simple burger on the menu. This is basically a beef burger with cheese, lettuce and relish. The second burger is aptly named the Burning Man for all of you who like spicier burgers, it's laden with roasted jalepenos, hot ketchup and dashi mayo, quite a mouthful! The first thing I noticed about both of these burgers was that the bread for the buns was quite spongy and not my perfect match for a burger bun. The baby huey is probably the lightest option of all the burgers and I preferred it to the Burning Man for the reason that it contains less relish. The meat itself I admit was pretty good, although I found the burning man burger was overridden with the intense taste of the relish. I do think this is simply a matter of personal taste though. My final verdict on the burgers, they are definitely above average but also not the best burgers I have eaten in the city. Now onto the fries which I ordered as an accompaniment to the burgers to see how they rated. Okay so I really enjoyed the fries. I liked the way they are seasoned, no sooner had they arrived I had demolished them! My personal favorite was without a doubt the cocktails. Before you think I'm raving alcoholic, I fully deny it! the cocktails really are that good! I especially loved the excellent Moscow Mule, it was very refreshing & a great choice for this tropical climate.
Being a Libra I always appreciate great design. I do love what they have created here ,which from what I can see is a new concept for Jakarta. I noticed they have installed a great sound system which adds to the overall appeal of this place. Over the speakers hip hop beats and soulful music are following, I could use that as another reason to stay longer and indulge in one more cocktail!
My overall verdict is that Three Buns Burger and Heads is a welcome addition to the Jakarta restaurant scene. It's a great place to try if you want to grab something quick to eat and have a drink before heading somewhere else. The prices for burgers range from 95k-125k while side dishes range between 35k - 55k and finally drinks are priced between 25k -115k.
