What more can I tell you than you already know, about bistro/restaurant Loewy, based in Mega Kuningan. Loewy is owned by the same management as the equally trendy Union. It's clear to see that Loewy has taken its inspiration from the uber trendy cities of New York and Paris. The clever owners have created another great place for us to dine out in the bustling city of Jakarta.
During the day time Loewy is frequented by many business people who work in Mega Kuningan and surrounding areas. In the evening it has a different vibe, with people coming to enjoy a cocktail and have dinner from all over the city. Because I was in the nearby area of Kuningan, I thought it would be nice to have lunch at Loewy. I have already been on several occasions for drinks and was interested to see how the food would fare.
It's an ongoing love affair between me and dragon fruit! I simply adore this tropical wonder fruit. So much so, that whenever I spot it on the menu, I will be drawn to try the unique twist that each restaurant offers. At Loewy they serve a cool Spiced Dragonfruit, 40k. Lowey's take on the healthy fruit, is mixed with Pineapple Juice, Lemon Juice, Cinammon Syrup and Cardamom. For me it's a refreshing change from ordering coffee. Usually I'm not a fan of pineapple, but I have to say that I really liked the way Loewy have perfected the art of not overpowering the juice with any one flavor. Safe to say, I would order this juice again.
Another day, another Nasi Campur! Well in my defence, I had actually planned on ordering brunch. But as I was already too late, this dish was my next choice. The Nasi Campur at Loewy, comes with crispy cumin chicken, eggs, chili tempe and beef steak sate. When I eat at a place such as Loewy, I never expect 100% authenticity, but in my humble opinion, the Nasi Campur was excellent! What I especially loved, was that the sambal is spicy, in keeping with Indonesian cooking. All of the ingredients were super fresh, I can highly recommend you order this dish if you are at Loewy.
As I mentioned earlier, Loewy is frequented by many business people at lunchtimes so be prepared to wait for a table at peak hours. If you are looking for a place to eat or drink in Mega Kuningan and haven't yet tried Loewy, I suggest you do. It's one of those places where the standard is always high, and the prices are comparable with other such places in Jakarta. So what are you waiting for!
